SpoCanopy Week Tree Plantings

The Lands Council, alongside our friends from Avista, is hosting five days of SpoCanopy Tree Plantings on May 7th - 11th in honor of Expo ‘74+50! We have a lofty goal to plant 100 trees per day for 5 days… that’s 500 trees total to plant a SpoCanopy Expo Forest that will be cherished for years to come! We will plant in different neighborhoods each day. Planting locations are listed below.

Let's come together to nurture nature and leave a legacy of a lush urban canopy. These SpoCanopy Tree Plantings are an opportunity to plant more than just trees – they're a chance to sow the seeds of change, sustainability, and a greener tomorrow. We can't wait to see you there!

Please come with a pair of gloves and your own water bottle. Thanks to Avista's sponsorship, local food trucks will be onsite each day to provide FREE meals for volunteers!

Event Highlights:

🌳 Planting for Progress: Over the course of five days, we'll be planting a diverse selection of native trees, enhancing the beauty and sustainability of our surroundings. These trees not only provide shade and aesthetic appeal but also contribute to cleaner air and a healthier ecosystem.

🌱 Community Collaboration: Join forces with like-minded individuals, families, and organizations, all coming together with a shared vision of a greener future. This is a fantastic opportunity to connect, collaborate, and create lasting friendships while making a tangible impact.

🍃 Expert Guidance: Our staff and knowledgeable arborists will be on-site to offer guidance and insights into the best practices for tree planting and care. Whether you're an experienced tree planter or new to the process, there's something for everyone to learn and contribute.

SpoCanopy is a program of City of Spokane Urban Forestry, in collaboration with The Lands Council. We want to ensure every person in every neighborhood in Spokane has access to trees and green space. That’s why we work with residents and volunteers to plant trees and beautify our city. Our goal is for every neighborhood in Spokane to have 30% canopy cover by 2030.
