In memory of Gerry Copeland, The Lands Council has adopted the Sherman Peak Loop Trail, planted the sign, and now it’s time for our Annual Trail Clean-Up! Bring a brown bag lunch, beverage, a pair of gloves and a bow saw if you have one. We’ll supply garbage bags.
This is a moderate skill level trail, mostly uphill. It is about a one mile hike to the sign. You can stop there or you are welcome to hike the full loop (approx. 2-1/2 to 3 hours) to help with light trail maintenance. The fall colors will be beautiful!

Directions: From Spokane, drive north on Hwy. 395, through Colville and Kettle Falls. Immediately after you cross the Columbia River turn left onto Highway 20. Drive up Sherman Pass to the summit. At the summit turn right, and drive down a narrow road for 100 yards, and park. We will meet there. It is approximately a 2 hour drive from the north side of Spokane.
The trail starts on the south side about a hundred yards down the east side (where you just came from). From the Kettle Crest Trailhead, hike south on Kettle Crest South Trail #13 for 0.7 miles. This trail intersection marks the start of Sherman Loop Trail #72 (to the right).
