Join The Lands Council for a special winter Wander Wild at the Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge to hike, enjoy the scenery, and identify animal tracks!
Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge encompasses over 20,000 acres in Eastern Washington on the edge of the Columbia River Basin and hosts an abundance of waterfowl, reptiles, amphibians, and mammals including moose, Rocky Mountain elk, white-tailed and mule deer, coyote, badger, river otter, porcupine, muskrat, beaver, bobcat, and cougar.
This is a free educational event and people of all ages are welcome.

Driving Directions (if necessary): Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge is an approximately 40-minute drive from Spokane, Washington. From Spokane, take I-90 west to the Cheney / Four Lakes Exit (exit 270). Travel west on Highway 904 for approximately 5 miles to the city of Cheney, home of the Eastern Washington University. When you arrive in Cheney continue west through 3 traffic lights. After you pass the third light proceed for one half mile to Cheney-Plaza Road. There, on your left you will see a brown and white sign that reads "Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge 4.5 miles." Turn left on to Cheney-Plaza Road and drive south for 4.5 miles until you see a large refuge entrance sign with a pair of redheads. Turn left on Smith Road and proceed to the fee station, a short drive on your right. Refuge headquarters is 2.5 miles east of the fee station.
Gear: Snowshoes will be provided by The Lands Council. Please dress for the weather. Optional items include a journal and pencil to record what you have learned.
