Weed Awareness Walk

  • Palisades 200 South Rimrock Drive Spokane, WA, 99224 United States (map)

Come learn all about weeds at Palisades Park on Saturday morning with The Lands Council, Friends of Palisades, and members from Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge. The event will start be from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, with coffee and donuts at 8:30 am. The morning will begin with a brief orientation from Private Lands Biologist Brian Walker, introducing invasive species and their impact on Spokane County. Following that, we’ll walk about three quarters of a mile to a patch of Dalmation Toadflax. Along the way, we’ll identify different invasive species along Rimrock Drive that can be pulled by everyday recreators.

Please bring gardening gloves, if you have them. We also recommend wearing long pants and socks out of precaution for allergic reactions and to minimize contact with ticks. The site is by a creek, so please bring bug repellant and proper sun protection (i.e. sunhat, sunscreen, and sunglasses).
