The City of Spokane is working on a proposed project to complete a missing section of the Centennial Trail in the West Central neighborhood that is just north (downstream) of Kendall Yards. City leaders are asking citizens to complete a survey letting them know what you think about the project and how you use the Centennial Trail.

The Lands Council is a part of the Environmental Priorities Coalition. Each year, the Executive Directors of the NGO members come together and set priorities. Two of the four priority bills passed. The two that passed were SB5323 (Reduce Plastic Pollution - a bill for a statewide ban on plastic bags) and HB2311 (Climate Pollution Limits - a bill that uses current science to set greenhouse gas limits). The Climate Pollution Limits Bill uses natural solutions, that The Lands Council has been doing for years, to mitigate climate change.
Lake Coeur d’Alene has long been one of Idaho’s most beautiful natural areas; from resorts and golf courses to watersports and wildlife viewing, Coeur d’Alene offers all manor of recreation. Additionally, the lake is also the headwaters for the Spokane River. Although the lake is regarded as a jewel of Idaho now, it hasn’t always been well treated.
Excitement and chaos filled the air in the hills surrounding Marshall Creek on October 25 as 130 Cheney Middle School seventh graders gathered to plant trees in support of wetland restoration. This event was part of The Lands Council’s Project SUSTAIN, which is an outdoor environmental education program designed to restore the connection between youth and nature.

Maggie grew up in Denver, Colorado, and moved to Spokane to go to school at Gonzaga, where she studied Political Science and Women & Gender Studies. In addition to working at The Lands Council, she is a leader in the Sunrise Movement in Spokane - a movement of young people working to address the climate crisis & pass a Green New Deal.
