The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) - which manages 245 million acres of public land - is proposing a new rule. The proposed rule would effectively balance conservation with other uses of BLM lands - a scenario that would benefit fish and wildlife habitat by including conservation and restoration alongside other uses. The proposed rule would also restore resources being impacted by wildfire and invasive species and elevate cultural resources while expanding outdoor recreation opportunities on public lands.
“The proposal would help the BLM fulfill its mission, ensuring public lands and the resources they provide are available now and in the future. The proposed rule would build on the historic investments in public lands and waters, restoration and resilience, and clean energy deployment provided by President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act.”
Join The Lands Council in supporting the BLM’s ability to value conservation and improve public lands management. The public comment period is open until July 5th.
