The Lands Council (TLC) mourns the recent loss of our regional environmental activist, Barry Rosenberg. Barry passed away on March 28, 2022 after a short battle with cancer. He was 79.
Barry was hired by TLC in the late 1980s to lead the Forest Watch Program, keeping a watchful eye over the U.S. Forest Service’s timber sale program in nine regional national forests. He traveled our region and taught other grassroots activists about the overcutting of federal forests, and helped them start more Forest Watch groups, successfully appealing timber sales.
He worked tirelessly on myriad public lands issues and water conservation. It was his lifelong passion and continued until his passing. He leaves behind a legacy of forest activism that we will never forget, giving a voice to our forests, waters and wildlife.
Thank you and Godspeed Barry.
